Aging is a gradual process. Friends and family may not even notice the subtle effect the passing years have on your appearance until wrinkles deepen or facial folds become unmistakable. Once noticed, the differences in your present appearance compared to pictures of yourself from years ago may be startling. If you feel self-conscious or dissatisfied with how your skin has weathered the passing years, Lana Rozenberg, D.D.S. offers dermal fillers, such as Juvederm® in NYC, to turn back the clock, so the face looking back at you is the face you recognize from years before.
Dr. Rozenberg will perform a facial exam during your initial consultation and discuss which dermal filler or cosmetic injectable is best suited for your individual needs. Each cosmetic injectable offers slightly different benefits. While one patient may benefit from the wrinkle relaxing properties in BOTOX® Cosmetic, your facial contours may be better suited for Juvederm®, a dermal filler which adds volume, smooths wrinkles, and eliminates facial folds, returning youthful contours to the face.
Juvederm® is composed of highly concentrated hyaluronic acid. This is a non-animal based substance found naturally in the human body. Patients can receive a treatment of Juvederm® in office, and the treatment itself only lasts a matter of minutes. Recovery following a dermal filler injection is minimal. Although redness, some swelling, and bruising may initially occur, these side effects will swiftly fade, and patients will notice visible improvement to the wrinkle or fold being treated almost immediately.
Before and After
FAQs About Juvederm®
How Is Juvederm® Different From Restylane®?
Although Juvederm® is comprised of the same basic ingredients as Restylane®, Juvederm® contains a higher concentration of hyaluronic acid, allowing for longer lasting results. The physical properties of Juvederm® also allow for a smoother injection. Its gel-like substance is less viscous than Restylane®, and many patients report feeling less pain during treatment and fewer bumps in their results.
Is Anesthesia Used During Juvederm® Treatment?
To ensure patient comfort during treatment, a local anesthetic may be used, so the treatment site will be numb while Juvederm® is being injected. Other anesthesia options may include a nerve block, or local anesthesia may actually be mixed with the filler itself. A variety of numbing options are available and may vary on an individual basis depending on the treatment site.
How Long Will My Results Last After Receiving Juvederm®?
The high concentration of hyaluronic acid found in Juvederm® in New York allows it to outlast Restylane® once injected under the skin. The body breaks down the dermal filler more slowly, lasting six to nine months depending on the treatment site, and averaging approximately eight months in most cases. Patients who receive Juvederm® under the eye to treat eye bags can anticipate their results to potentially last a year or longer.
